GEOTEXTILE FABRIC PROPEX 6081

Woven geotextiles in polypropylene with high resistance and excellent permeability, which can be used both as reinforcement and as separation and filter, with tensile strengths from 15 kN/m up to 110 kN/m, specifically designed for a wide range of applications in the civil construction sector, as well as in reclamation, excavation, drainage, soil reinforcement and protection against erosion. They are made of polypropylene strips stabilized against ultraviolet rays in order to resist solar radiation and the most aggressive environments. Some types have good vertical water permeability. In all circumstances they allow the user to make the best choice both from a technical and economic point of view.

USE 

ROAD AND RAIL CONSTRUCTION

In the construction of temporary roads (e.g. construction site roads) or in the realization of plans for the laying of road and rail embankments, the laying of a suitably sized PROPEX geotextile between the foundation soil and the landfill layer makes it possible to obtain the following advantages: a reduction in the thickness of the landfill layer and, therefore, in construction times; a longer life span of the road; a reduction in construction costs. The reinforcement of the geotextile is provided not only in the initial stages of construction but is guaranteed throughout the life of the work, thanks to the good creep behavior of the geotextile.

ROAD EMBANKMENTS AND REINFORCED EARTH WORKS

When an embankment is to be built on soft ground, it is advisable to lay a geotextile fabric such as PROPEX at the base, which has all the characteristics necessary to guarantee the functionality of the work over time. The PROPEX geotextile fabrics are also used for the construction of reinforced earth works when they do not need to be greened (e.g. internal slopes of landfills) thanks to their good creep behaviour.

HYDRAULIC WORKS

The effectiveness of many civil engineering works over time is also based on the control of the amount of water present in the soil. Wherever there is a flow of water in the soil, measures must be taken to ensure that fine particles are not removed and damage the works built to facilitate the drainage of the soil. PROPEX, used as a filter element, instead of the traditional granular filters, allows to overcome these problems and to build more quickly and economically. PROPEX has a filtration diameter such as to guarantee, on the one hand, the retention of the soil on site and, on the other hand, the passage of water. It is therefore ideal for controlling erosion in the banks of rivers and canals and in defense works against the sea. At the same time, these characteristics make it particularly suitable for the construction of drainage trenches, to promote the formation of natural filters and durable effi cient.
